DenseReader is designed with privacy as a core principle. Here is exactly what data the extension accesses and why.
| Data | Why | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Active tab URL | To load the article you want to summarize | Never stored; used only during active summarization |
| Page content | The article text being summarized | Only in memory during the current session; never transmitted unless you use remote AI |
| chrome.storage.local | Your settings & license key | Stored only on your device |
API keys (Pro) are encrypted with AES-256-GCM via Web Crypto API. License keys are stored in plain text locally — they are activation credentials, not secrets.
