DenseReader is designed with privacy as a core principle. Here is exactly what data the extension accesses and why.

Active tab URL	To load the article you want to summarize	Never stored; used only during active summarization
Page content	The article text being summarized	Only in memory during the current session; never transmitted unless you use remote AI
chrome.storage.local	Your settings & license key	Stored only on your device

Network Requests

• On-device mode (default): Zero data leaves your device. AI runs locally via Chrome's built-in APIs.
• Server-side mode (Pro): Article text is sent to the Deepseek API for summarization. Governed by Deepseek's privacy policy.
• License verification: Only your license key is sent to our server — no article content.

What We Do NOT Do

• ❌ No analytics or telemetry
• ❌ No tracking pixels
• ❌ No third-party cookies
• ❌ No data selling
• ❌ No user profiling
• ❌ No persistent storage of article content

Data Security

API keys (Pro) are encrypted with AES-256-GCM via Web Crypto API. License keys are stored in plain text locally — they are activation credentials, not secrets.
